Passing of the former President of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev

The Brazilian Government has learned with regret of the passing away of the former President of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Mikhail Gorbachev, an important world leader at the end of the 20th century.

Upon receiving the first visit of a Brazilian president to Moscow in 1988, former President Gorbachev contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations.

The Brazilian Government conveys its most sincere condolences to the Government of the Russian Federation and to the family of former President Gorbachev.
