Passing of Chilean ex-President Sebastián Piñera

The Brazilian government received with profound consternation the news of the passing of Sebastián Piñera, former President of Chile, in a helicopter accident in Lago Ranco, in the central region of that country, today, February 6th.

Piñera presided over Chile twice, from 2010 to 2014 and from 2018 to 2022. Throughout his two terms, he was a friend of Brazil and worked tirelessly for the enhancement of bilateral relations.

The Brazilian government extends to the family of President Piñera, and to the government and people of Chile, its most sincere expressions of solidarity and sorrow for this irreplaceable loss.
