Passing of Ambassador Georges Lamazière
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces with deep regret the passing of Ambassador Georges Lamazière, which occurred today in Brasília.
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1952, Georges Lamazière graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University (1975). He joined the diplomatic service in 1977.
He served at the Brazilian Embassies in Paris (1981-1984), La Paz (1984-1986), and Mexico City (1993-1995), as well as at the Brazilian Delegation in Geneva (1988-1990 and 1995-1997). He was Consul General in San Francisco (2002-2006) and Ambassador to Denmark (2006-2010) and Chile (2013-2017).
In Brasília, he held various positions, including Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic (1999-2002), Director of the Rio Branco Institute (2010-2013), and Undersecretary-General for Asia and the Pacific (2017).
Georges Lamazière is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maria Olivia de Moraes Jardim Lamazière, and two daughters.
