Press Release n. 99
Passage of cyclone Yaku through Peru
The Brazilian government expresses its regret to the Peruvian government and people over the human and material losses caused by the heavy rains that have hit Peru since the beginning of the year, exacerbated by the passage of Cyclone Yaku, and manifests its solidarity with those affected and their families.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Brazilian citizens planning to visit Peru in the coming days and weeks check the situation in the region where they intend to travel and that they take the necessary precautions, avoiding the risk of having problems or delays in the course of their travel.
Brazilians who are in Peru or intend to travel to that country should also keep updated with alerts for travelers on the consular webpage of the Embassy of Brazil in Lima <https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/embaixada-lima/setor-consular> and the "Portal Consular" <https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/assuntos/portal-consular>, following the recommendations expressed therein, especially those regarding care to be taken on travel, including by land.
