PRESS RELEASE N. 370
Opening of the Israeli market to Brazilian poultry meat - Joint press relese by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA)
Brazil and Israel concluded negotiations on Thursday, August 31, to open the Israeli market to Brazilian poultry meat. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock have been in Israel, where they held meetings with local health authorities throughout the week and visited production facilities to gather information on the kosher production process that exporting companies to Israel will need to adhere to.
It should be emphasized that kosher slaughter and processing do not affect the safety of products or compliance with animal welfare principles.
Brazil thus becomes the first country in the world to export chicken meat to the Israeli market, which attests to the high level of credibility and confidence in the Brazilian agribusiness defense system. Israel is one of the world's largest consumers per capita of poultry meat and has a significant demand for higher value-added cuts, such as breast and "shawarma."
The opening of the Israeli market is the result of close coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), in partnership with the national private sector.
