Press Release n.51
Missile launch by North Korea
The Brazilian government condemns the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile on March 24th by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). The latest launch represents a new worrisome act of destabilization of the regional and international security, and violates the pertinent United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The Brazilian Government once again urges the DPRK to fully comply with the UNSC resolutions and calls on all parties in the region to redouble their efforts to engage the DPRK aiming to renew the moratorium on missile tests. Likewise, the Brazilian Government urges North Korea to review its nuclear status, to rejoin, with no delay, the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as a non-nuclear-weapon state, and to adhere to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
