Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota to visit Israel – October 14, 2012
The Minister of External Relations, Antonio de Aguiar Patriota, will travel to Israel on October 14, when he will meet his counterpart, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, and will be hosted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He will also hold meetings with the Minister of Intelligence and Atomic Energy, Dan Meridor, and with the Minister of Science Technology Daniel Hershkowitz.
The meetings will provide an opportunity to go over issues in the bilateral agenda and matters related to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Bilateral relationship has been enhanced in recent years, with broader cooperation on science, technology, space, defense and renewable energy.
Economic relations between Brazil and Israel have evolved considerably in recent years, partly due to the Mercosur-Israel Free Trade Agreement, in force for Brazil since 2010. Between 2002 and 2011, trade exchange rose by 215%, from US$ 445 million to US$ 1.4 billion. Israeli investments in Brazil, with an aggregate stock of US$ 69 million in 2011, are rising steadily, especially in the technology and communications sectors.
