Meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Botswana, Lemogang Kwape
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil held a working meeting today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Botswana, Lemogang Kwape, on an official visit to Brazil.
On the occasion, the foreign ministers signed the Agreement on Exemption of Visa Requirements for Nationals of Brazil and Botswana, which will facilitate tourism and reinforce the cultural and commercial links between the two peoples. They also addressed bilateral issues related to technical cooperation, exchange between diplomatic academies, defense, agriculture, biofuels and investments.
Brazil and Botswana established relations in 1985. With the intensification of relations, Brazil opened a resident embassy in Gaborone in 2007 and Botswana, in Brasília in July 2009, the first of that country in Latin America. Brazil mainly exports engineering equipment, agricultural machinery and poultry meat to Botswana, and mainly imports industrial diamonds from its African partner.
