Market Opening in Costa Rica for Avocado Exports - Joint Statement by MRE/MAPA
The Brazilian government is pleased to announce that the government of Costa Rica has authorized Brazil to export avocados to their country.
This marks the third market opening in 2024 for Costa Rica, which is expected to enhance trade flows between the two nations, reflecting international confidence in Brazil's national sanitary control system.
Costa Rica is an important destination for Brazilian agribusiness products. In the first half of this year, Brazil's agricultural exports to that market totaled USD 153 million.
In February, Brazil secured the opening of the Costa Rican market for the export of mesenchymal stem cell-based products for therapeutic purposes for dogs, cats, and horses. In July, the market was opened for the export of live horses.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness achieves its 89th market opening this year, totaling 167 openings in 55 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
These accomplishments are the result of the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
