Itamaraty Palace with open doors: I Wladimir Murtinho Day
The Itamaraty Palace will be open for a special civic visit on June 11 from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm (last entry at 5:00 pm). The visit is a unique opportunity for the general public, as it will give access to areas normally restricted to officials. The tour will start at the west door of the Itamaraty Palace (facing the Ministry of Health), in order of arrival, without prior appointment.
The "open doors" day will be held in the context of the I Wladimir Murtinho Journey to honor the legacy of this great official of Itamaraty, who contributed so much to the construction of the Palace and to the consolidation of Brasilia as federal capital.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG) held today at the Itamaraty Palace a seminar in tribute to the memory of Ambassador Wladimir Murtinho, marking the 20th anniversary of his death and launching the I Wladimir Murtinho Journey. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Carlos Alberto Franco França, and other diplomats, academics and students attended the event. The recording is available at https://youtu.be/byf9kF-o59E.
The "open doors" day and the seminar aim to divulge the institutional activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, raise awareness of heritage, and value the historical and artistic collection of the Itamaraty Palace as part of its function of representing and promoting Brazil to foreign authorities.
The regular civic-educational visits to the Itamaraty Palace continue to be made by appointment at visita@itamaraty.gov.br.
