PRESS RELEASE N. 583
Intergovernmental Brazil–Germany negotiations on cooperation for sustainable development
The 12th Meeting of Intergovernmental Negotiations on Technical and Financial Cooperation between Brazil and Germany was held in Brasília on December 4–5.
Led by Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the meeting brought together representatives from more than 20 Brazilian ministries and national and subnational agencies.
As a result of the meeting, the German government announced new financial commitments of up to 463.5 million euros for bilateral cooperation in the 2026–2027 period by means of grants and concessional loans. Of this amount, 435 million euros will be directed to financial cooperation projects and 28.5 million euros will be directed to technical cooperation. The funds will be allocated primarily to projects in the three focal areas of the negotiations: forest and natural resource conservation; climate, energy and fair transition; and sustainable economic development, employment and vocational training. This amount adds to the 561 million euros in financial commitments made by Germany at the 11th Meeting in 2023, totaling more than 1 billion euros under the current administration.
The bilateral dialogue strengthened the strategic partnership between the two countries, focusing on reinforcing sustainable development, fighting climate change and deepening political dialogue on issues such as renewable energy and energy transition.
