PRESS RELEASE N. 133
Increased access to the Philippine market for beef, pork and poultry
The Brazilian government welcomed the official announcement by the Philippine government, on March 25, of the approval of the system accreditation regime for beef, poultry and pork from Brazil.
Through this modality, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) will be able to certify and enable Brazilian establishments to export to the Philippines, exempting them from audit missions. The new regime will therefore increase the number of qualified abattoirs, including smaller companies and diversifying animal protein exports to the Asian country.
The announcement is the result of intense diplomatic and negotiating coordination with the Philippine government, supported by the close partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Brazilian private sector.
The Philippine measure reaffirms, in an important market, the quality and safety of Brazilian products, based on compliance with strict health standards.
In 2023, the Philippines was the world’s seventh main destination for Brazilian animal protein, totaling $681 million in exports, and the second largest market for pork meat ($274 million, or 10% of Brazilian global pork exports).
