Inauguration of President Bernardo Arévalo in Guatemala

The Brazilian government congratulates Guatemala’s new President, Bernardo Arévalo, and Vice President Karin Herrera, and applaud the Guatemalan people for their firm commitment to democracy, in light of the repeated attempts to overturn the election results.

The Brazilian government wishes Guatemalas’s new administration every success and reaffirms its willingness to continue working to strengthen ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries within the framework of respect for democracy and popular will, expressed in elections that are recognizably  fair and transparent.
