Floods in northern Chile

The Brazilian Government is greatly saddened by the news of the devastating floods that have afflicted northern Chile since the end of March, leaving dozens of people dead or missing and causing serious material damage.

The Brazilian Government expresses its solidarity with the families of the victims and conveys its most sincere condolences to the Government and people of Chile.

The Consulate General of Brazil in Santiago, which is closely following developments, has no record of any Brazilian nationals among the victims. With the support of the Consulate General and the Embassy, the Council of Brazilian Citizens in Santiago is responding to the situation and has already made a material donation to those made homeless by the floods.
