First Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Brazil and the Gulf Cooperation Council – September 9th, 2024
Tomorrow, September 9th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, will attend the First Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Brazil and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The GCC member countries — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain — collectively represent the 5th largest market for Brazilian exports. In 2023, trade between Brazil and the GCC countries amounted to approximately USD 16 billion, with Brazilian exports exceeding USD 9 billion. Brazil plays a key role in supplying essential food products to ensure food security in the Gulf region, while also importing vital inputs for its agriculture and industry.
At the ministerial meeting, discussions will focus on strengthening ties between Brazil and the GCC, as well as with individual member countries. Opportunities for increasing investments, with an emphasis on Brazil’s Growth Acceleration Program, will also be explored. Regional and global issues will be examined as well.
Minister Mauro Vieira is also expected to present Brazil's preparations for the upcoming G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
