Election of the new Secretary General of ALADI-LAIA, Uruguayan Senator Sergio Abreu

The Brazilian government congratulates Uruguayan Senator Sergio Abreu on his election today, September 17, for a three-year mandate as Secretary General of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI-LAIA).

Brazil is confident that, in light of his great experience as a public man in Uruguay and of his role in important moments of regional integration, Senator Sergio Abreu will make a relevant contribution to ALADI-LAIA at the time when the Association turns 40.

ALADI-LAIA is an important forum for Latin American integration. In this Association, as in all other forums, Brazil will support a Latin American integration based on democracy and economic openness.
