Diplomatic Passports

Until 24 January 2011, the Ministry of External Relations granted diplomatic passports on the legal basis provided by paragraph 3, Section 6 of the Annex to Decree 5978, of 4 December 2006.

Directive 98, enacted by the Ministry of External Relations on 24 January 2011, which established new rules and guidelines for granting diplomatic passports to people not listed in Section 6 of Decree 5978, of 4 December 2006, does not make previously granted passports illegal.

All diplomatic passports issued by the Ministry of External Relations before 24 January 2011 were granted strictly in compliance with the rules established by Decree 5978/2006. The Ministry understands that there are no elements that justify challenging the motivation or the legality of the aforementioned acts.
