Death of the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Holy See of Saint Mark, Shenouda III

The Brazilian Government was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Holy See of Saint Mark, Shenouda III, the Coptic spiritual leader, on 17 March.

Over his 40 years of pontificate, Pope Shenouda III strived for tolerance, peace and dialogue among religions. The Brazilian Government expresses its condolences to the entire Coptic community in Egypt and across the world.
