Death of former Chilean President Patricio Aylwin

The Brazilian Government expresses its deep regret at the death, last April 19, of the former Chilean President Patricio Aylwin.

President Aylwin was able to overcome the differences between the political groups in his country, after having led Chile – with courage and lucidity – towards democratization. In this moment of sadness for all Chileans, Brazil expresses its sympathy for the loss of this public man who marked the history of Chile.
