PRESS RELEASE N. 93
Closing of the second cycle of the Roundtable Dialogues between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the National Liberation Army – ELN
The Brazilian Government congratulates the Roundtable Dialogues for Peace between the Government of the Republic of Colombia and the National Liberation Army (ELN) on the results achieved at the end of the second cycle of negotiations, held in Mexico City from February 13 to March 10.
Brazil welcomes the Mexico Agreement, whereby the parties define a new agenda for peace negotiations, as a sign of their determination to find a solution to the conflict. Furthermore, it celebrates the announcement of common elements between the Parties to address the fundamental issues of social participation and the ceasefire.
During this round of negotiations, Brazil resumed its participation as a guarantor country, alongside Chile, Cuba, Norway, Mexico and Venezuela. By reaffirming its support for the process and its confidence that the internal conflict in Colombia can be resolved through dialogue, the Brazilian government ratifies its commitment to continue contributing to efforts toward reconciliation in the neighboring country, with positive effects for the entire region.
