CALC Meeting of Foreign Ministers – Caracas, 26 April, 2011

Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota will take part in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Latin American and Caribbean Summit on Integration and Development (CALC), to be held on 26 April, in Caracas.

The Meeting of Foreign Ministers aims at making preparations for the 3rd CALC, to be held in early July, also in Caracas. At the presidential meeting, the Rio Group and CALC, presently on a convergence process, will be formally replaced by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). The new regional mechanism, which was adopted at the Unity Summit (Mexico, February 2010), will gather all Latin America and Caribbean countries with the goal of fostering political dialogue and cooperation for development.
