Brazilian national elected as president of the International Organization of Vine and Wine
Brazilian Regina Vanderlinde has been elected today in Paris as president of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). The election took place on the occasion of the OIV Extraordinary General Assembly, with 36 of the 45 votes of the member countries in favor of the Brazilian candidate and 99.2 weighted votes.
The OIV is the organization that defines international standards of wine, grapes, raisins, wine-based beverages, grape juice beverages, and carries out international economic and commercial monitoring of the sector.
Regina Vanderlinde holds a degree in pharmaceutical biochemistry/food technology from the Federal University of the State of Santa Catarina and a master’s degree and a doctorate in enology from the University of Bordeaux. Since 2012 she has served at the OIV as Scientific Secretary of the Subcommission for Methods of Analysis. During her mandate, she will seek to develop wine trade and tourism as well as sustainable production through the use of innovative technologies and practices.
