Brazilian bid to host COP 30

The Ministry of Foreign Relations began diplomatic efforts to launch the candidacy of the city of Belém, in Pará State, to host the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 30) in 2025. The initiative reflects the priority given by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to combating climate change and to environmental preservation in the Amazon region.

The host of COP 30 is to be decided on the occasion of COP28, in December 2023.
