The Brazilian Federal Government has been informed today (April 12) by COVAX Facility coordinators that 842,400 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine against COVID 19 will be sent to Brazil. Delivery of the doses is scheduled for June.
The Ministry of Health has placed an order of 42.5 million doses of COVAX Facility vaccines. The amount is sufficient to vaccinate 10% of the Brazilian population. Until now, Brazil has received more than one million doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine through this initiative.
It should be noted that these 842,400 doses are not part of the 100 million doses already purchased by the Ministry of Health directly from the pharmaceutical company.
