Brazil's election to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
Today, October 1st, Brazil was elected, for the twenty-fourth time in a roll, member of the International Civil Aviation Organization Council (ICAO), the specialized body of the United Nations to the promotion of the safe and orderly development of the international civil aviation. The Council is elected for a three year term (2017-2019).
Brazil received the highest vote among the Part I Countries, which brings together States of chief importance in air transport, with 167 of a total of 170 possible votes.
The results of the election reflect the international recognition of the contributions of Brazil, a founding member of the ICAO, the work of the Organization.
Brazil thanks the ICAO member countries for the strong support received and extends its compliments to the other elected members.
