Brazil and 35 countries from 4 continents cooperate on water issues

Within the context of the 8th World Water Forum, the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Water Agency (ANA) will hold a special session on March 22 with 35 participating countries from the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe that develop technical cooperation initiatives with Brazil in the field of integrated water resources management.
The meeting, to take place at Ulisses Guimarães Convention Center, is aimed at introducing measures to strengthen the management of water resources within the scope of the South-South Cooperation strategy and to promote integration among water management institutions in different countries. Additionally, the ‘Agendas for the Development of Water Resources Management’, drawn up for different regions in Latin America and Africa, will be introduced.
The Brazilian technical cooperation at the governmental level is aimed at providing innovative solutions that are adaptable to the different realities of each of the partner countries. Through the sharing of technical expertise, the training of personnel and the support for the establishment and improvement of institutional frameworkds, Brazil’s technical cooperation meets the commitments made in the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Brazil develops water resources management cooperation projects with the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda; Argentina; Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Bolivia; Colombia; El Salvador; Ecuador; Grenada; Guyana; Haiti; Honduras; Jamaica; Nicaragua; Paraguay; Peru; Dominican Republic; Saint Lucia; Saint Kitts and Nevis; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Suriname; Trinidad and Tobago; Uruguay; Venezuela; Mexico; Portugal; Angola; Cape Verde; Ethiopia; Guinea-Bissau; Equatorial Guinea; Mozambique; Sao Tome and Principe; and Timor-Leste.
