The Brazilian government condemns the Israeli bombings carried out on November 2 and 3 in the Gaza Strip, which have thus far left more than 110 people dead, including women and children. Among the fatalities, at least 12 were in a displacement camp in Al-Mawasi, designated as a humanitarian zone in the southern part of the Strip.
Recalling Israel’s obligation, under international humanitarian law, to take the necessary measures to protect the civilian population in the occupied territories, the Brazilian government reiterates its call for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire, which includes the release of all hostages and the unimpeded entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
Brazil reaffirms its commitment to a two-state solution, with an independent and viable State of Palestine living side by side with Israel, in peace and security, within the 1967 borders, which includes the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
