PRESS RELEASE NO. 25
Authorization of Meat Processing Plants for Pork and Poultry Exports to Peru – joint MRE/MAPA press release
On January 14, the Peruvian government, through the National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), authorized nine additional Brazilian meat processing plants to export their products to Peru.
Since January 2023, Peru has imported pork from the state of Acre. With these new authorizations, plants in Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, and São Paulo will also be able to export pork. For poultry meat, a production facility in Rio Grande do Sul has been approved.
In 2024, Brazil exported more than USD 755 million in agricultural products to the Peruvian market. In addition to protein products, this amount includes items such as soybeans, textile fibers, fruits, nuts, and dairy. Brazilian meat exports to Peru exceeded USD 141 million last year. With the authorization of these new facilities, a significant increase in pork and poultry exports is expected, benefiting the entire production chain.
These results stem from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).
