Attack by Israeli Settlers on the Palestinian Village of Jit

The Brazilian government condemns the attacks carried out on August 15 by a group of Israeli settlers against the Palestinian village of Jit, in the northern West Bank.

Brazil deplores the repeated and increasingly frequent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank, which are a direct consequence of the policy of expanding illegal settlements in the region.

The Brazilian government, recalling in this context the obligations imposed by the Geneva Conventions and the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice on July 19, urges the Israeli government to take the necessary measures to protect the civilian population, prevent further acts of violence, and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
