Appointment of Brazil's Commissioner-General for the Brazil-France year of cultural exchange

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Brazil are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Emilio Kalil as Commissioner-General of Brazil for the 2025 Brazil-France year of cultural exchange, as agreed upon at a presidential meeting held in Paris, in June 2023.

Since 2018, Emilio Kalil has held the position of managing director at the Iberê Camargo Foundation. He had a distinguished role as director of the "Grupo Corpo" dance company in the 1980s, and of the Municipal Theaters of São Paulo (1988-1992) and of Rio de Janeiro (1995-1999). Kalil has also served as production and project director at the Bienal de São Paulo Foundation, from 2000 to 2011, and was head of the Culture Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro between 2011 and 2016.
