The Brazilian Government welcomes the announcement that the Brazilian NGO Greenpeace activist Ana Paula Maciel has received formal authorization from the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation to leave the country. The approval of the amnesty by the Russian Government puts an end to the prosecution of 30 activists who were on board of the Arctic Sunrise vessel.
At the direction of the President of the Republic, the Ministry of External Relations, working through the Embassy in Moscow, monitored court hearings, made representations to the Russian authorities and assisted Ana Paula Maciel, who should return to Brazil this weekend.
