Friday Guided Walks – Noble Trees Trail

Fridays, August 7, 14, 21, and 28 | 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Meeting Point: Visitor Center – 1008 Jardim Botânico Street

The route features 27 noble tree species from the arboretum, mainly from the Atlantic Forest and Amazonian forests, including Brazilwood, kapok, mahogany, and others. The term “noble trees” refers to the ecological, economic, and landscape importance of these species.

This activity counts toward the monthly stamp for the Trailblazer journey in the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Visitor Passport.

Exhibition: “The Time of Plants”

Thursday to Tuesday | 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Venue: Casa Pacheco Leão – 1008 Jardim Botânico Street

Free admission. On display through June 2027.

The history of tea and coffee begins with the origins of Camellia sinensis in the mountains of southern China and Coffea arabica in the highlands of Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan, reflecting on the historical connections between Africa, Asia, and Brazil.

A special visit for people with disabilities and their companions. During this exclusive session, the Museum offers sound adjustments, sensory resources, and welcoming mediation for an accessible and multisensory experience.

A shadow theater performance inspired by the story of Gbalá and the journey to the Temple of the Baobab.

Large Plant Genera Are the Focus of Peter Moonlight’s Lecture on August 17

Professor Peter Moonlight (Trinity College Dublin) will give the lecture “The Science of Big Plant Genera” on August 17 (Monday), at 10:00 a.m., at the Botanical Garden Museum.
