Trio Arthur Dutra brings jazz and instrumental MPB to Domingo no Jardim
The trio formed by Arthur Dutra (vibraphone and percussion), Humberto Mirabelli (guitar) and Fernando Trocado (sax, flute) is the attraction at Domingo no Jardim on July 20. They bring “jewels” from Brazilian and Jazz music as well as their own compositions to the repertoire. The concert takes place at 11am, in front of the bust of D. João.
Arthur Dutra has released six albums, including Encontros, in partnership with saxophonist Zé Nogueira, and another as a duo with pianist Jeff Gardner. She has appeared on albums by various MPB artists, such as Alberto Continentino, Zé Renato, Cristina Braga, Mart'nalia, Fátima Guedes, Lenine, Paulinho Moska, Roberta Sá, Vanessa da Mata (with Gilberto Gil), Erasmo Carlos and Delia Fischer, among others. In 2012, he received the Icatu Arts Scholarship Award. He holds a bachelor's degree in music from the City University of New York and a doctorate in musicology from the University of Rouen-Normandy. He is also a writer with two books out.
Humberto Mirabelli has been a guitarist, guitarist and arranger for 32 years, having graduated in classical and popular guitar from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music. He currently accompanies singer Mart'nália, Leny Andrade and the Teo Lima Sextet. With Mart'nália, he recorded the album Mart'nália sings Vinícius de Moraes, winner of the 2019 Latin Grammy Award. She also recorded and produced a track with Arthur Maia (Si Tu Pars) on the album “+ Misturado”, winner of the Latin Grammy 2017. Among his most recent work, he has played with American pianist Todd Hunter and on three albums by Korean singer Heena. He has performed and toured with Simone, Zezé Mota, Zé Renato, Leila Pinheiro, Miúcha, Eduardo Dusek and Zé Roberto Bertrami, among others.
Fernando Trocado studied saxophone with José Freitas, Paulo Moura, Idriss Boudrioua and Ion Muniz. He graduated in Conducting and Flute from UFRJ and has a master's degree in Historical Musicology. He has played with various artists and ensembles, such as Celso Fonseca, Bibi Ferreira, Angela Ro Ro, UFRJazz Ensemble, Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Jamelão and many others. Together with Raimundo Niccioli and Claudia Ernst Dias, he conducted the Proarte Wind Orchestra. He has also performed in musical shows, including “Ópera do Malandro”, “O baile” and “Ópera dos Três vinténs”.
