An archaeological site that housed the Royal Gunpowder Factory, created by Dom João, the Casa de Pilões features old excavations and objects from the Botanical Garden's archaeological collection. To make the most of it culturally, the proposal is to restore the space and install an exhibition that will attract the public to learn about the building's historical importance.
Among the scientific projects, one of the highlights is the project to modernize the physical structure and information technology of the National Centre for Flora Conservation (CNC/Flora). The initiative is essential for optimizing research activities and preserving biodiversity. Investments are needed in furniture and high-capacity computers, especially for data processing and geoprocessing.
In the area of environmental education, the Science and Technology Week project stands out. Every year in October, the Rio Botanical Garden organizes workshops, exhibition stands, games, talks, lectures and scientific and technological activities developed by the institution. The aim is to provide the public with knowledge about sustainability issues. The scientific dissemination event involves different sectors and teams from the institution.
Sponsorship - The new call for proposals complements the current Call for Proposals 01/2024, for individuals and companies interested in participating in programs for the development and conservation of biodiversity, as well as the dissemination and diffusion of scientific knowledge.
In this case, the projects will be carried out directly by the sponsor or indirectly through operators hired by the sponsor, under the technical supervision of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. Public Notice 01/2024 establishes competencies, procedures and counterparts for entering into and monitoring partnerships with transparency and legal certainty.
With the partnerships, the Rio Botanical Garden aims to expand the scope of its mission and achieve the strategies agreed at national and international level, rising to the level of an institution of excellence in science.
