Registration Open for the Extension Course “Citizen Science and Science Education: Dialogues for the Promotion of Socio-Environmental Justice”
The new extension course, “Citizen Science and Science Education: Dialogues for the Promotion of Socio-Environmental Justice,” is offered through a collaboration between the National School of Tropical Botany/Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute (ENBT/JBRJ), the UFRJ Laboratory School (Colégio de Aplicação da UFRJ), the Department of Biology at PUC-Rio, and the Environmental Education from the South Study Group (Grupo de Estudos em Educação Ambiental desde el Sur) at UNIRIO.
The course is free of charge and is aimed at teachers, community leaders, and teacher education students. Its main objective is to foster reflections on the potential of citizen science to promote critical educational processes committed to socio-environmental justice and social participation.
Classes will be held in person on August 15 and 22, 2026, at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute (entrance via 1235 Pacheco Leão Street).
The course is free, and registration must be completed through the link below between June 15 and July 1. Places are limited. After registering, selected participants will receive confirmation by email.
