JBRJ receives recognition for its commitment to Public Integrity
The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute (JBRJ) was recognized for its commitment to the Advisory Board on Maturity in Public Integrity. The recognition took place on October 10, during the event Strengthening Integrity in Times of COP30, aimed at the units that are part of the Integrity, Transparency, and Access to Information System (SITAI).
The meeting was promoted by the Public Integrity Secretariat of the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) as an initiative to expand and strengthen the Federal Public Administration's Public Integrity programs. SITAI agencies and entities, such as the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA), Ibama, and ICMBio, gathered to discuss transparency and cooperation in the public sector, focusing on strengthening Integrity Advisory Services in Public Administration, based on the application of the Public Integrity Maturity Model (MMIP).
CGU Ordinance No. 57/2019 defines an Integrity Program as a “structured set of institutional measures aimed at preventing, detecting, punishing, and remedying corruption, fraud, irregularities, and ethical and conduct deviations.”
At the event, the acting president of JBRJ, Eliezer de Sousa Nunes, spoke about the importance of integrity in the institution's activities. In his speech, he recalled that this month, Jardim received a team from CGU and made a commitment to integrity.
“We signed a memorandum with 31 actions to be implemented by September 2026. With this, the Botanical Garden reaffirms its commitment to modern and transparent public management, which seeks to innovate and strengthen trust and promote ethics and responsibility. In the coming days, an ordinance will be signed, creating, for the first time in the Garden's history, a sectoral integrity unit dedicated to integrity and personal data protection. The new structure represents a step forward and a commitment by the Garden to make integrity part of its essence, like caring for biodiversity, which inspires us daily," said Eliezer de Sousa Nunes.
