Indigenous peoples' revealed knowledge of native bees at the Rio Botanical Garden
Special activity to celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day
The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden invites kids to discover the secrets of bees through the knowledge of native peoples. The activity - Morning with the bees: the knowledge revealed about native bees by our indigenous peoples - will be led by the Environmental Education Service (SEA) on April 17. The initiative is to celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day (April 19).
The activity is free and will begin at 9am in the SEA's teaching laboratory, followed by an educational trail at 10.30am through the arboretum to the meliponarium (a collection of stingless bee hives). A talk about indigenous peoples and their relationship with honey is also included in the special program. To take part, you need to register by e-mailing educativo@jbrj.gov.br
