From Greece to Sunday in the Garden, classical guitar recital with Ioanna Kazoglou
Greek guitarist Ioanna Kazoglou is the attraction at Domingo no Jardim on January 25, promising a “brilliant and pyrotechnic” program with strong connections to Spanish music. The repertoire includes Domenico Scarlatti (18th century), Joaquín Malats, Francisco Tárrega (19th century), Vicente Asencio, and Joaquín Rodrigo (19th century), as well as a work by Russian composer Konstantin Vassiliev. The artist was in Brazil two years ago and returns as a guest of the AV-RIO 25 Years Festival.
Born in 2003, Ioanna Kazoglou studied with Ricardo Gallén at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar and with Adriano del Sal at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In October 2025, she began her master's degree at the Robert Schumann Hochschule, under the guidance of Joaquín Clerch. In the same year, she recorded her first two albums in Puerto Rico, expanding her international profile.
The guitarist has performed in countries such as Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Norway, Belgium, Slovenia, Greece, South Korea, Chile, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. She has also performed as a soloist and teacher at prestigious international festivals, including Forum Gitarre Vienna, the Arroyo de la Luz Guitar Festival in Spain, and the Patras Guitar Festival in Greece.
Among her main awards are 1st Prize at the Malaga International Guitar Competition, 1st Prize at the Anna Amalia Competition in Weimar, and 2nd Prize at the Puerto Rico World Guitar Festival, all won between 2023 and 2025. Her performances are recognized for their technical precision, inner clarity, and passionate expression.
The performance will take place at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden at 11 a.m., in front of the bust of Dom João. In case of rain, the event will be canceled. The recital is free, with only the entrance fee to the arboretum being charged.
