Duo Zé Paulo Becker & Fernando Leitzke is the attraction at Domingo no Jardim
On November 2, Domingo no Jardim welcomes the duo Zé Paulo Becker & Fernando Leitzke, who promise to enchant the audience with a repertoire full of Brazilian music classics, featuring refined arrangements.
The performance brings together the precise guitar playing of Zé Paulo Becker and the virtuosity of pianist Fernando Leitzke from Rio Grande do Sul. The result is a refined interpretation of great Brazilian composers, as well as space for improvisation.
In addition to original compositions, the show's set list includes “Amor Proibido/Corra e Olha o Céu/O Sol Nascerá” (Cartola), “Retrato em Branco e Preto” (Tom Jobim/Chico Buarque), “Feira de Mangaio” (Sivuca/Glorinha Gadelha), among others.
The duo has performed on several stages in Rio de Janeiro and recently gave a concert in Europe, in the city of Nuremberg, Germany, at the invitation of the Chorinho Cultur und Lebensart Association.
Zé Paulo Becker has recorded 16 albums. In 2011, his album with Trio Madeira Brasil & Roberta Sá won the Brazilian Music Award for best MPB album. As a composer, he has collaborated with Paulo César Pinheiro, Aldir Blanc, Roque Ferreira, and Moyseis Marques, and his work has been recorded by artists such as Ney Matogrosso, Roberta Sá, and Elza Soares. He has played and recorded with Elza Soares, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Francis Hime, Yamandu Costa, Armandinho, Paulo Moura, Wagner Tiso, among others.
Pianist, composer, and arranger Fernando Leitzke released his first album, Rios que Navego, in 2015, which won four awards in the Instrumental category of the Açorianos Music Awards in 2016. He currently directs the group Candombaile Carioca, which focuses on Latin American music. He is also part of choro projects such as “Chora da Esquina,” led by Rui Alvim, and “Choro da Ribeira,” alongside Ronaldo do Bandolim.
The performance will take place in front of the bust of Dom João at 11 a.m. In case of rain, it will be moved to the Galpão das Artes. The show is free, with only the Arboretum charging admission.
