Sunday in the Garden presents the group Tango Revirado
The Tango Revirado group will be the attraction at Domingo no Jardim on August 17. The group combines the tradition of tango, milonga, and waltz with the imposing modern tangos of Astor Piazzolla, offering the audience the “Bons Ares” and the magic of authentic tango.
The performance will take place at 11 a.m. in front of the bust of Dom João and is free of charge. Visitors only pay the entrance fee to the arboretum. In case of rain, it will be moved to the Galpão das Artes.
The group is formed by Argentine Martín Lima on bandoneon, Uruguayan Facundo Estefanell on bass, and Brazilian Marcio Sanchez on violin.
Maestro Martín Lima has performed in several traditional orchestras in Buenos Aires and is a member of the Tango e Paixão, Argentango de São Paulo, and El Abrazo Tango companies, among others. He performed as a soloist with the São Paulo Symphonic Band for the show “0 tango e suas histórias” at MASP.
A musician and actor, Márcio Sanchez has performed with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) and the Mercosul Orchestra (Argentina) as concertmaster. He is a violinist with the orchestras of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro and Petrobras Sinfônica, and founder of Johann Sebastian Rio. As a chamber musician, he has toured Europe, the US, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.
Double bassist Facundo Estefanell is a researcher of classical music, tango, and candombe, and stands out as a composer and instrumentalist on the Rio de Janeiro jazz scene. He was principal double bassist of the Cesgranrio Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Rio Municipal Theater Symphony Orchestra and YOA Orchestra of the Americas on tour in Europe.
