Casa Pacheco Leão presents Duo Quintes & Lima with vocals, guitar, and poetry

This Saturday (July 26), Casa Pacheco Leão welcomes the chamber duo Quintes & Lima, formed by singer Alessandra Quintes and guitarist Marco Lima. The concert will take place on the balcony of the Casa, located in Rio's Botanical Garden, at two times, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and is free of charge. The repertoire spans different eras and cultures, bringing the delicacy of chamber music as a backdrop among herbs, flavors, and aromas.

“We thought of a repertoire that would create a bridge between cultures and emotions. The delicacy of tea inspired us to choose songs that also invite pause, contemplation, and sensitive listening. We want the audience to feel the poetry of each note, as if it were an aroma spreading through the air,” says the singer.

The duo will present works ranging from the Iberian Renaissance to the 20th century, including folk songs by Manuel de Falla and Benjamin Britten and 19th-century romanticism with Franz Schubert's lieder. In addition, Alessandra also performs pieces that are part of the Brazilian songbook by composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, César Guerra-Peixe, and Waldemar Henrique.

Born in São Gonçalo and raised in Niterói, actress and mezzo-soprano Alessandra Quintes has performed in award-winning productions and graced renowned stages such as the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, Sala Cecília Meireles, and Teatro João Caetano, among others. In addition, the bachelor's degree holder in Singing from Unirio has performed alongside important symphony orchestras and is also a vocal coach in theater and television productions.

Guitarist Marco Lima, also from Niterói, has an international career, with training in Germany and a doctorate in Music from UFRJ. Awarded in national and international competitions, he has performed in several European countries and is a member of important chamber music ensembles, in addition to collaborating with relevant names in classical music.
