Botanical Garden Museum promotes activities in support of the fight for the rights of people with disabilities
National Day of Struggle for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated in Brazil this Sunday, September 21. The Botanical Garden Museum is holding activities from the 19th to the 21st of this month, with special programming on Sunday to mark the date.

Sensory Cognitive Visit | 9 a.m.
Date: September 19 and 21 (Friday and Sunday)
During this time reserved exclusively for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions, in accordance with Municipal Law No. 6,278, the Museum adapts its exhibitions with sound adjustments and sensory objects, creating a welcoming environment. The guided tour invites the public to explore the space through different senses. Especially on Sunday's tour, there will be translation into Brazilian Sign Language.
Meeting point: Reception Room.
Audience: People with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions.
Spaces: 20, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Botanical Games | 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Date: September 20 (Saturday)
Educational games that stimulate learning about botanical species, biomes, and Brazilian biodiversity in a playful and collaborative way.
Location: Multipurpose Room
Audience: Ages 6 and up
Spots: 10 per session
Sensory Cognitive Visit: In Search of the Lost Tree + JBRJ Sensory Garden | 10:30 a.m.
Date: September 21 (Sunday)
Multisensory visit through the Museum's exhibitions and the JBRJ Sensory Garden, mediated by our educators and with the presence of a Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) interpreter. The activity promotes interaction with natural elements and tactile materials, valuing different forms of perception and expression.

Audience: children and families
Spaces: 20, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Educational Visit: From the Forest to the Laboratory | 2:30 p.m.
Date: September 21 (Sunday)
Led by an educator and a Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) interpreter, the visit highlights the research conducted by the JBRJ, from the forest to the laboratory. The tour of the Museum's main exhibition reveals the richness of Brazilian flora and shows how scientific knowledge contributes to species conservation and the formulation of public policies in the country.

Ancestral Knowledge: Macramé | 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Date: September 21 (Sunday)
The workshop is inclusive for people with visual impairments and provides, through touch, contact with a technique that involves intertwining knots using the sensitivity of the hands. The activity will be accompanied by an interpreter in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras).

Audience: Ages 10 and up
