Botanical Garden Museum kicks off anniversary celebrations on March 8th

The mornings of the post-carnival weekend will be rocked by the Lekolé group, who will lead a children's block full of music, games and stories. On Saturday afternoon, the workshop 'Ancestral knowledge: botanical embroidery' invites the public to explore embroidery techniques and traditions inspired by nature. In addition, activities that are already popular with families who visit the museum, such as 'Garden games' and the educational visit 'From the forest to the laboratory', will continue on the program, guaranteeing moments of fun and learning for all ages.

- Garden games (4 to 12 years)
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Gardens in front of the Museum
Places: 10 places per session, on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Educational visit: From the forest to the laboratory (from 10 years old)
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location: Reception room
Places: 20
Mediated experience through the Museum's spaces, presenting the scientific work of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden's researchers; as well as the books, stories and references that inspire our exhibitions and installations.

- Children's block, with Lekolé | 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Meeting point: Multipurpose Room
Places: 20 per session, on a first-come, first-served basis
Audience: 4 to 12 years old (10:30 am) and 0 to 3 years old (11:30 am)
In the rhythm of Carnival and celebrating the Museum's first year, this activity brings together lots of music, games and storytelling. All with a breathtaking repertoire and lots of fun!

- Ancestral knowledge: botanical embroidery (from 10 years old)
Time: 2pm to 5pm
Venue: Multipurpose Room

The workshop offers an experiment in embroidery inspired by the illustrations in the Brazilian Flora in Danger room.

Sunday, March 9th

- Cognitive sensory tour (people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions)
Time: 9am to 10am
Location: Reception room

Audience: people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions
On Sundays, the Museum offers exclusive opening hours for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities and their companions, in accordance with Municipal Law No. 6.278. During this period, the exhibitions have sound adjustments and sensory objects, creating a more welcoming environment. The guided tour invites the public to explore the museum through different senses, using materials developed especially for this experience.
