Botanical Garden Museum holds 2nd edition of De Flor em Flor children's festival with free programming
This Saturday, February 28, the Botanical Garden Museum is hosting the second edition of the Children's Festival “De Flor em Flor” (From Flower to Flower) on a special afternoon dedicated to children and their families. From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the event will feature creative workshops and theater and music performances, connecting art, nature, and botany in a program that values free play, imagination, and learning. Admission to the Museum and all activities are completely free.
The program begins at 2 p.m. with the theatrical show Bagunça, by Grupo Roda Gigante, which uses clowning as a language to dialogue with the universe of childhood. At 3 p.m., the public can participate in two simultaneous workshops: flower observation drawing, which invites children to explore the shapes, colors, and details of the Botanical Garden; and the production of foot bath sachets, a sensory experience with herbs and coarse salt that revives ancestral knowledge. Closing the program at 4 p.m., the group Farra dos Brinquedos presents the musical show Tudo Quanto É Coisa, with songs inspired by children's imagination.
The Children's Festival reinforces the Botanical Garden Museum's commitment to educational and cultural activities that bring the public closer to nature through playful and formative experiences. By integrating art, science, and traditional knowledge into a program geared toward children, the Museum expands its role as a space for meeting, learning, and raising awareness about the importance of conserving Brazilian biodiversity.
The Botanical Garden Museum is sponsored by Shell Brazil and managed by idg - Instituto de Desenvolvimento e Gestão (Institute for Development and Management). Opened in March 2024, the space presents to the public, through exhibitions, interactive content, and cultural programming for all ages, the pioneering work of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute for the knowledge and conservation of Brazilian flora.
