Amazon Trail – Saturday, September 5

On Amazon Day, celebrated on September 5, visitors to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden will be able to take part in the Amazon Trail and discover 20 plant species native to the Amazon biome cultivated in the arboretum. Highlights include the rubber tree, kapok tree, mulato tree, açaí palm, monkey pot tree, among others. The guided tour will begin at 10 a.m. at the Visitor Center. The trail is free with admission to the arboretum.

The Amazon Region at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden is home to one of the arboretum’s largest living collections. It includes species introduced by naturalist Adolpho Ducke (1876–1959), former head of the Garden’s Botany Section, following his expeditions to the Amazon.
