African Trail is featured during Black Awareness Month
During Black Awareness Month, the African Trail is the highlight of Friday Trails. The African Trail offered by the Visitor Center is represented by 19 species in the arboretum. Some are native to Brazil, while others came from Africa and other tropical regions around the world, and have been used by various African peoples and their descendants since they arrived here. Among the species that can be observed are the flamboyant (Delonix regia), native to Madagascar, and the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), native to the west coast of Africa, from Senegal to Angola.
The guided tour is free, with only the arboretum entrance fee charged. The meeting point is the Visitor Center, every Friday in November, at 10 a.m. On the 21st, the trail will be guided by botanist Marcus Felippe Oliveira da Silva. Exceptionally, on the 21st, there will be registration (free of charge) by phone or in person at the Visitor Center.
