Brazilian Journals in the Field of International Relations
Given the large number of academic journals in the field of international relations, it is important to have classification methods that guide researchers and/or students. In Brazil, a useful reference is the “Qualis Journals” classification of Capes (the Brazilian Federal Agency for Graduate Education), for the area of Political Science and International Relations. This categorization ranks journals into strata: A1, A2, B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, and C. This is a descending classification of importance, with A1 journals being the most relevant and C journals the least impactful.

The journal “Cadernos de Política Exterior”, edited by IPRI and published by the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG), is classified as A4 in CAPES’s unified Qualis (2019).
