General Coordination for Technical Cooperation - Africa, Asia and Oceania (CGAA)
As its name says, the General Coordination for Technical Cooperation in Africa, Asia and Oceania (CGAA) is in charge of the international technical cooperation implemented between Brazil and countries in Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Middle East, based on the demands received from the countries located in these regions and provided that they are in line with the foreign policy adopted by the Government of Brazil.
The CGAA works in close coordination with different public and private players to meet said demands for technical cooperation. To this end, it participates together with national and foreign partner institutions from the preparation of programmes, projects, activities and work plans to the monitoring and evaluation of the bilateral South-South cooperation implemented with partner countries in the areas of competence of the GCAA.
The implementation of projects to strengthen the cotton sector in Africa is worth mentioning, as it involves 15 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Cameroun, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Togo, Senegal and Zimbabwe). The programme aims at sharing knowledge, innovative technologies and best practices to increase cotton yield and the income of cotton producers taking part in the initiative in said countries.
