PROTOCOL FOR SCHEDULING MASTER'S AND DOCTORAL DEFENSES
Send to the CPGG at least one month before the defense:
- List of potential members for the examination committee
- Letter (in .pdf) or email of approval from the advisor
- Dissertation/Thesis in .pdf
- Submitted article(s) in .pdf
- Proof of submission of the article(s) in .pdf
PROTOCOL FOR APPROVAL
Send to the CPGG a link to a shareable folder (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) containing:
- Dissertation/Thesis summary + keywords in .txt
- Dissertation/Thesis abstract + keywords in .txt
- Revised Dissertation/Thesis in .pdf with the cover page signed by the committee members
Note: The .pdf file should be named as ON_YEAR_M/D_STUDENTNAME.pdf (e.g., ON_2014_D_joaosilva.pdf, ON_2016_M_josefarias.pdf)
- Advisor’s report
- Library clearance certificate
- Computer clearance certificate
PROTOCOL FOR RECOGNITION OF CREDITS FROM EXTERNAL COURSES
To request the recognition of credits for a course taken outside the Graduate Program in Geophysics at ON, it is necessary to email the graduate program office (secpgg@on.br) containing:
- A link to access the course syllabus;
- An official statement from the course instructor, graduate program office, graduate program coordinator, or department head of the institution where the course was taken, certifying that the student passed the course and providing the course workload, the grade received, the period in which the course was taken, and the graduate program that offers the course.
PROTOCOL FOR DIPLOMA REQUEST
The issuance and registration process for a master’s (or doctoral) diploma at the National Observatory is carried out in two stages.
STAGE 1: REQUESTING THE DIPLOMA AT THE NATIONAL OBSERVATORY
The interested student must request the diploma at the Graduate Program Division of the National Observatory by presenting authenticated copies of the following documents:
- CPF
- Identity document
- Birth (or marriage) certificate
- Undergraduate diploma
- Undergraduate academic transcript
- Master’s diploma (only for doctoral students)
Note: UFRJ accepts urgent diploma registration requests. In this case, the applicant must present a document proving the urgency of the request (e.g., a copy of the official government gazette confirming the applicant's approval in a public exam).
STAGE 2: DIPLOMA REGISTRATION AT UFRJ
The Graduate Program Division of the National Observatory must submit the diploma registration request to UFRJ. This request must include the following documents:
- Original requested diploma signed by the director and the head of the graduate program at the National Observatory
- Copy of the master's (or doctoral) defense minutes
- Copy of the master's (or doctoral) approval minutes
- Copy of the master's (or doctoral) academic transcript
- Documents submitted by the student in STAGE 1
FOLLOWING UP ON THE PROCESS AT UFRJ
The student who requested their diploma at the Graduate Program Division of the National Observatory must track their process at UFRJ by accessing the link: https://sei.ufrj.br/pesquisa.
PROTOCOL FOR TRANSPORT REQUESTS AT SELOG
To request transportation for students and/or materials related to research projects developed by students in the Graduate Program in Geophysics at the National Observatory, the applicant must:
- Submit the completed request form to the DIPPG secretariat via secpgg@on.br (see template below).
- Send an approval email from the advisor certifying that the activity is related to the student's research project in the graduate program.
