Friday Trails – Palm Trail

Meeting point: Visitor Center.

Birdwatching Tour
Date: Saturday, October 3
Meeting point: Cactus Garden, at 8 a.m.
The tour, organized by the Association of Friends of the Botanical Garden (AAJB), is led by ornithologist Henrique Rajão. The walk lasts approximately four hours. The meeting point is in front of the Cactus Garden at 8 a.m. Non-members only need to pay the Arboretum admission fee. In case of rain, the event will be canceled.

National Bee Day
To celebrate National Bee Day, EcoVilla is hosting a free activity in the theater foyer.
Date: Saturday, October 3
Time: 3 p.m.
The program for children includes creative workshops, storytelling, and artistic activities using natural soil pigments. In a playful way, children will learn about the role of bees in biodiversity and environmental conservation.
Exhibition “The Time of Plants”
Thursday to Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Location: Casa Pacheco Leão
The exhibition explores the origins of Camellia sinensis in the mountains of southern China and Coffea arabica in the highlands of Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan, reflecting on the historical connections between Africa, Asia, and Brazil. One of the highlights of the exhibition is Tea no Tea, by Chinese artist Jingwei Bu, which evokes the tea ceremony. By removing the objects from the ritual, the artist invites us to notice what remains: the time devoted to others, being present, the pause, and human connection.

Botanical Garden Museum Program – October 1 to 5:
Exhibition “Women in Science: Graziela Barroso and Marie Curie”

Opening hours: Thursday to Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last admission at 5 p.m.); closed on Wednesdays.
Free admission.
The exhibition honors scientists Graziela Barroso and Marie Curie and brings together photographs, documents, research instruments, and historical records of the two researchers. The initiative is part of the program of the 23rd National Week of Science and Technology (SNCT), which this year has the theme “Her Science.” The event will take place at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden from October 27 to November 1, but the exhibition can be visited for approximately one month, starting October 1.

Botanical Games – Bee Memories

A playful activity inviting visitors to learn about bees and their importance to biodiversity through a memory game celebrating National Bee Day.

Little Architects of the Cerrado – Nest-Building Workshop
October 5 (Monday)
10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. | 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
A hands-on workshop to build a nest for the joão-de-pau bird using clay, twigs, and leaves. The activity is inspired by the installation Ninho que se habita and introduces visitors to this bird species and its nest-building techniques, in celebration of Bird Day.
